Our top priority is to develop fully custom lighting designs that meet every customer’s individual needs and aesthetic with an emphasis on how a space is experienced. Our History

After working in the landscaping and property maintenance industries for over 18 years, we were driven to help home and business owners maximize their investments. Whether it was brightening patios and gardens, accenting custom home builds, showcasing specialty hardscapes, or lighting the paths in between, it was clear that illumination was the final missing touch. Owner and Operations Director, Adam Agee, evolved his nearly two-decade long experience in residential and commercial landscape contracting to come into prominence as an outdoor lighting professional through his stewardship of the land and lightscape at Sierra Nevada Brewery in Mills River, NC. After 5 years of training and implementation, Adam founded AVL Outdoor Lighting & Design in 2022 to bring beautiful illuminations to homeowners and businesses all across Western North Carolina. Since then, we have completed hundreds of installations earning 5-star reviews and a strong reputation for excellence.

Our Team

AVL Outdoor Lighting & Design is a family-owned and operated business based in Arden, NC. Owner and Operations Director, Adam Agee, is joined in leadership by his life partner, Larissa Lopez, who serves as Administrative Director tackling the fine details behind the scenes. In the field, cousin duo Fernando Marin and Felipe Gonzolaz are the property maintenance professionals who serve as our Lead Technicians. Our operations crew includes trained electricians and low-voltage lighting installers, certified installers of OMNI RGB Lights, and members of the Association of Outdoor Lighting Professionals.

Keeping it “all in the family” means we value relationships above all else. Our company is known for treating customers with care and respect because we treat each other that way. Every project is a collaboration with the property owner or event planner ensuring their personal vision is executed to perfection.

Our Family

When we’re not busy dreaming up lighting systems, Adam and Larissa spend their time making their daughter Selina’s dreams come true. We enjoy spending time with our family, traveling, watching live music, cuddling our kitties, and spending any time outside by the campfire, camping, hiking, or on the water. Adam is an avid disc-golfer and amateur fly fisherman. Larissa loves to cook, read and dabble in rock climbing. Selina is an artist, a dancer, and an adventurer. We’re honored to call Western NC our home and playground.
